In Motion O.C., a Physical Therapy and Fitness Company in Orange County, California is Now Offering “Core Health Products.”

In order to better help its patients and members, In Motion O.C. is now offering special supplements from Core Health Products.

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) March 16, 2012

For the last 8 years, In Motion O.C. has been Irvine’s leading Physical Therapy & Fitness provider. Recently they began using Core Health Products, a unique supplement line designed to optimize health. Each supplement is created based on three simple principles:

1. Provide maximum nutrient utilization through the use of enzyme delivery and bioavailable micronutrients (known as the M.E.D.S™ system).

2. Formulated to obey the laws of nature and provide a balance of all the ingredients and nutrients necessary to achieve the designed product purpose.

3. Backed by patents and research to ensure the product is safe and efficacious. In Motion O.C. is encouraging their physical therapy patients to get on the Core Health Products in order to heal from their injuries faster primarily due to the products ability to reduce inflammation.

Co-owner Natalie Thomas, PT, DPT says, “Once we realized that supplementation is not about nutrient consumption, but rather nutrient utilization, then it was just a matter of finding the best product on the market that could do that. We wanted a product that could help our patients heal and our fitness members recover faster. It was also critical to us that the product be organic and natural. In Core Health Products, we fulfilled all of that.”

In Motion O.C. is a 6,000 square foot state of the art facility in Irvine, CA. In Motion O.C. is a health and fitness center with an emphasis on physical therapy, fitness, personal training and wellness. To learn more or to try Core Health Products, visit the In Motion O.C. Supplements page.

[Irvine, CA – August 8, 2011, The In Motion O.C. team joins Vanguard University team by sharing a common vision of health and fitness with the community. In Motion O.C. is on the corner of McGaw and Von Karman, at 17332 Von Karman Ave, Suite 120, Irvine, CA 92614

Vanguard University joins many of the world’s top universities by offering BOD POD services for their clients. Dr Avans, PhD of Kinesiology/Psychology and Sociological Aspects of Sport and Physical Activity at Vanguard University extends the BOD POD research to In Motion O.C. clients as well.

Dr Avans states, “The personnel at In Motion O.C. are dedicated to helping people begin and maintain their journey towards health and fitness. The Vanguard University Kinesiology Department is dedicated to helping educate and provide quality fitness assessment and prescriptions to our community and those working with In Motion O.C. Our staff has advanced degrees and experienced professionals willing to work their clients’ needs and desires.”

Body Composition Measurement states that BOD POD measures fat vs. fat-free (lean) mass reflecting the results of a person’s physical activity and nutritional practices. Monitoring body weight alone can be very misleading, because a scale can’t tell the difference between a pound of fat and a pound of muscle. Sedentary people sometimes gain fat and lose muscle without any noticeable change in their weight. Many other forms of measuring body compisiton can be difficult, invasive, or inaccurate. For example, Skinfold Calipers can be off up to +/-8%. Read the full article.

Natalie Thomas, Owner of In Motion O.C. says, “We are thrilled to be working with Dr. Avans as her knowldege of the Bod Pod Technology is unsurpassed. We look forward to helping our clients achieve even more success utilizing the Bod Pod because our clients fitness goals is our #1 priority. Our Fitness Coaches also know that their clients will have even more of an edge with the scientific and useful information with which they now have access.”

In 2010, Vanguard University celebrated its 90th anniversary! Throughout their history, they have been educating Christ-centered world changers. Today, Vanguard graduates serve in virtually every profession (education, ministry, business, missions, law, government, medicine, social services, the arts, and many more). Vanguard University’s purpose is to pursue knowledge, cultivate character, deepen Christian faith, and equip each student for a life of leadership and service.

[Irvine, CA – July 27, 2011, 2011] The In Motion O.C. Postural Program can restore lost function and get you back on the path to healthy living. This service is available at In Motion O.C. at 17332 Von Karman Ave, Suite 120, Irvine, CA 92614

Jeff Thomas decided on a career as a Postural Specialist in 1998 after discovering his own life was dramatically changed by the same therapeutic method. He had been a semi pro baseball player and injured his knee. After limping off the field he was evaluated with next steps about his recovery. Instead of going to a doctor, he was referred to Postural Therapy by his personal trainer. It not only allowed his knee to heal quickly, but it changed his life forever. Jeff found he could finally run without shin splints. He was pain free, and movement once again felt wonderful, much like it did when Jeff was a child playing little league.

What is Postural Therapy? It’s the selection of individualized exercises and stretches that systematically restore lost function to the musculoskeletal system. It retrains the muscles of the body to do what they were supposed to do, to be the length they are supposed to be at, and to pull your bones back to their proper position. The result is improved posture, increased balance, flexibility, athleticism and strength. Most importantly, it means pain free living. Muscles dictate bone position and therefore the position of your body. When your body’s position, or posture, is “out of whack,” you are vulnerable to all sorts of maladies. The good news is that muscles can be re-trained and returned to their proper form and function.

Jeff Thomas went on to get his training at The Egoscue Method before starting Therapy Solutions, and finally In Motion O.C. (in Irvine). There he was inspired to create a highly successful “Postural Program.” Many of the patients at In Motion O.C get elements of it in their Physical Therapy treatment, making this organization the only place in the world that offers this treatment under insurance. For those needing a more thorough program (which is most people), they have created two very affordable options. The standard Postural Program includes 6 sessions with Jeff Thomas over the course of 2 months. Each session takes your body to the next level. After two months, you will notice significant changes about how you look and feel.

What is the fee for this restoration of function and pain free living? Only $895. The 2nd option is even less expensive for those who know they can do it with less hands on supervision or if they don’t live near Irvine. For only $395, In Motion O.C. can do the same 6 sessions via Skype. You’ll still meet with a postural specialist, but just using Skype’s video conferencing technology to save time. Here, we will be looking at your posture while you are in the comfort of your own home. The specialist will provide an emailed PDF showing you pictures of your exercises with detailed instructions that is specifically designed just for you. This program is available to anyone in the world via the internet.

In Motion O.C also offers this unique, comprehensive Postural Programs to Corporations as part of their Corporate Wellness Program. Corporations seeking to help their employees become healthier, more productive employees find they are actually able to increase their bottom line by making an investment in this tax deductible program.

You can read more about this program and hear from others who have experienced success with this program on the website. If you’d like to get started, simply contact In Motion O.C. at 949.861.8600 to set an appointment via Skype or by coming into the facility. You can also email Jeff Thomas directly at Jef@InMotionOC.com with any questions. Together we will get you started on your path of pain free living.

[Irvine, CA – July 27, 2011, 2011] The In Motion O.C. Fit Camps are in full swing and campers are loving them! Fit Camps are Monday thru Saturday at various times of the day – all held at a convenient location in the heart of Irvine, CA. The In Motion O.C. facility is on the corner of McGaw and Von Karman, at 17332 Von Karman Ave, Suite 120, Irvine, CA 92614

“I was feeling like crap,” the 41-year-old In Motion O.C. Fit Camp Member said while grabbing a drink of water after her noon workout session. “Being a working woman, juggling my three children – I found that taking a mental and physical break at lunchtime was the perfect way to go for me.”

To those who may not be familiar with the fitness boot camps concept, they are programs that offer numerous benefits; from a lower price tag than one on one personal training to a real results orientated approach and a even a social component – time to laugh with a group and get true support by the others who attend.

According to ACE-certified fitness professionals, the most popular workouts are Boot Camp-style workouts and they will remain popular among consumers based on their intensity and efficiency. ACE trainers also state that consumers are becoming more educated and fitness-savvy; they understand the need for fitness professionals to have the proper education and high-quality certifications.

“Present-day trend is to have fitness camps in open areas, with lots of fresh air and sunshine,” says Jeff Thomas, Managing Director of In Motion O.C. “We offer fresh air Fit Camps outside our building making it easy for the working professional.”

More and more people are drawn to the fitness boot camps as gyms have become more monotonous and have little or no accountability. At In Motion O.C. Fit Camps, expect all kinds of body resistance exercises to build long lean muscles and burn fat.

A professionally run Fit Camp program should leave you refreshed, wanting more SWEAT and proud of your commitment to change. You took a step away from obesity as well as aches and pains and gave yourself the opportunity to grow stronger. Your mental clarity will help you make better quicker decisions when you head back to the office and into your family life.

We all have our excuses: “I don’t have enough time, I didn’t bring my workout clothes, I am exhausted, I have to make lunches for my family, I am swamped at work”… the list of excuses could go on and on. However, we do not have to live our lives this way – filled with reasons not to take care of ourselves. When we have a busy day, our workout and healthy eating goes right out the door (it is the easiest component to remove). I would like to share with you 5 tips for making fitness a priority in your lives, regardless of the handy excuses available!

Be “active” for 20 minutes every day

Twenty minutes is not much. You can walk a mile in 20 minutes. You can stretch those tight muscles (from sitting in your desk chair all day). By committing to 20 minutes per day, you are forcing yourself to move. Once you get started, you may not want to stop! In the case that you truly are busy, 20 minutes is a small amount of time (you can do abs, hip mobility, and pushups for 20 min while watching your favorite show).

Write it on your calendar

If you have an appointment, you cannot break it. Write it down in your daily planner and follow through on your commitment. Better yet, tell someone about your workout date and ask them to hold you accountable to your plan.

Keep your workout clothes and shoes in your car

A college professor of mine always called it a “ditty bag.” Your ditty bag should always be in your car or right next to your door. It should contain the elements you use most often.

Some examples are: your workout shoes, shorts, t-shirt, sports bra, extra socks and underwear, bathing suit, deodorant, hair brush, etc.

Keep it with you all the time because you never know when the opportunity will strike to get a good workout.

MOVE more

Park your car farther away from your office/grocery store/shopping mall.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator

Get up from your desk chair EVERY HOUR. Stretch a bit, walk to the bathroom, walk to get a drink of water, walk to the mailroom, etc. Set a timer and stand up.

Find a fitness facility in your area

Locate a facility that is close to your home or your work. Somewhere you have to pass to get anywhere else. The closer it is, the more likely you are to go.

Most places offer classes in the early morning, late evening, and mid-day.

Workout with a certified Personal Trainer. Look into locations that have educated trainers to help you, especially if you have special needs (back pain, post-surgery, etc).

If you follow through on my 5 Tips, you will be on your way to making fitness a priority in your life. So often we spend our time helping others. TODAY is the day to make time for you. You cannot continue to help others without first helping yourself. Make the commitment today!

Heel pain is a very common complaint and an ailment that can be quite annoying. When you get out of bed in the morning and the first thing you notice when you put your feet on the floor is soreness in your heel, your day is already off to a less than pleasant start. Chronic foot issues, especially involving the heel (the calcaneus), can affect your lifestyle in many ways. Because it is painful to bear weight, the ability to do your job may be adversely affected and it is usually very challenging to participate in an active exercise program outside of the pool. This can lead to weight gain, increased stiffness, muscle weakness and generalized loss of well being. The Center for Disease Control recommends 10,000 steps per day for people over 60 years of age. That may be difficult if your heel hurts with each step so let’s look at some causes of heel pain and more importantly, ways to alleviate it.

Let’s explore some common causes of heel pain. The most common diagnosis is plantar fasciitis. The body has fascia throughout and it basically is a very tough connective tissue. In the mid foot, this fascia is very thick and supportive as it supports the longitudinal plantar arch in the foot, giving a spring like support to the multiple small bones in the foot and giving extra support to the muscular tissue as well. The foot has multiple arches but the plantar arch is large and the fascia here has to work extra hard to support this arch and the weight of your body. If you have a “high arch” or pes cavus, the plantar fascia may be a bit shortened and less flexible. If you have a “flat foot”, or pes planus, the plantar fascia may be somewhat lengthened or stretched out, therefore not able to give the arch the support that it needs. Couple this with wearing footwear that does not always properly support the arch (shoes such as flip flops or the cute dressy shoes that women love to wear), going barefoot much of the time or working on hard concrete floors in a standing position for the majority of the day can be very taxing on the plantar fascia. Another factor that may significantly contribute to heel and arch pain is chronic low back issues (more on that later).

The more tension that is placed on the plantar fascia, the more likely one is to develop a “heel spur”. A heel spur is a calcium deposit that lays down on the anterior portion of the calcaneus at the attachment of the plantar fascia in response to the additional pressure. These can enlarge over time requiring surgery to remove. You can also get some spurring that occurs in the posterior aspect of the calcaneus in response to shortening of the Achilles tendon. Spurs are generally indicative of a chronic long term problem and are more challenging to deal with as they may require more significant medical intervention such as surgical removal or cortisone injections. The posterior aspect of the calcaneus (the heel) is shaped somewhat like a block and has a fat pad to help protect it and provide some cushion to it with weight bearing activities. In some cases of heel pain this fat pad can become inflamed (hypertrophied) or smaller (atrophied). In either case, the application of tape to help support the fat pad can be very helpful in alleviating heel pain.

There are several conservative measures that can help alleviate heel pain and help you recover completely. All inflamed tissue requires an element of rest, anti-inflammatory measures such as ice and ibuprofren, increased circulation, improved flexibility and improved strength to heal properly. In the case of the foot, proper support is also very important. A physical therapist can help you with all of these. To begin with, a proper evaluation of your foot and lower extremities is necessary. Depending upon the acuteness of your pain, rest and anti-inflammatory measures may be the first course of action. The next step will be exercises including stretching and soft tissue mobilization of the lower leg and foot musculature. It is important to do these exercises daily as all exercise will help to improve circulation which is key to starting the healing process. Manual therapy to help restore flexibility to tight tissues or to mobilize restricted foot bones can also be helpful. Proper support of tissues, either by applying special tape such as McConnell tape or Kinesiotape can be very helpful in alleviating pain and providing extra support to the arch, the fat pad of the calcaneus or the Achilles tendon. Guidance in proper footwear or orthotics will also be given. Lastly, proper strengthening exercises for the lower leg and foot will be taught. It is important in long term maintenance of chronic heel pain that a proper exercise program is carried out and you may need guidance as to what types of exercise will be most appropriate for you. Weight gain always makes heel pain worse so you need a good balance between being active enough to maintain a healthy weight and keeping your heel pain under control.

I mentioned earlier about how the low back can influence heel pain. In some cases chronic low back pain can be a trigger for heel pain. Simply stated, chronic low back pain can trigger the nerves in the spine to be more sensitive in sending messages to the muscles that they serve. This increased sensitivity can cause the muscles to become more hypertonic (tight), even without you knowing it. This is a common cause of chronic hamstring tightness as well as tightness in the calf musculature which in turn can affect how the muscles and the fascia in the foot can function. So, if you’re having difficulty with chronic heel pain, getting your back in better shape can be extremely helpful. This usually involves some general decompression of the spine (less sitting, more traction and flexibility to the spine), some core strengthening (of the abdomen and spinal musculature), increased mobility in the spine, pelvis and hips and proper posture. Our Postural Program is a great tool for these issues or a physical therapist can help as well.

In Motion O.C. Physical Therapy and Fitness can help you live a healthier, pain free lifestyle! Get your feet in better shape so that you can get moving!
